Norax Belts Question

Anyone had any experience with Norax belts tearing at the edges?

I've tore 2 new A16's within minutes of using . Its odd as I switched from A30's just prior, ground for a bit and boom a tear.

I've been using Norax x30s, X22s, and X16s ever since they came out, and I've never had one tear on me. I even "roll" them around the edges of the platen without problems. My thought is that something on your grinder might be causing the tearing....examine your machine and see if there is something the belt is catching on, especially when your grinding.

Could also be a burr on the knife. I had a pin once with a burr on it that split a belt in half for me and almost ruined my contact wheel. By the way, 36 grit belts don't feel good when they slap you in the face, chest, and arms on a hot August day when you're working in a t-shirt! Kinda leaves a little road rash!

No, but they will wake you up REAL fast. Not that I ever had that happen myself.
