General questions
Hello all,
First, allow me to thank Mark Henry for turning me on to the website after meeting him at the mall this evening. Second, are there any dues or rules for joining the NC group, and has the next meeting been planned yet? (seems I just missed one) I am in the Salisbury area, so if anyone lives close by give me a yell. I made a very simple knife years ago from an old industrial hacksaw blade, and to be honest I've been pretty humbled by some of what I've encountered through links here so far. At this point I am just in the information gathering phase of the craft, but I have always enjoyed making and fabricating things so this looks pretty interesting. Thanks, Talon Wilson |

Hey Talon, welcome to the forum. The Guild is open to any and all. You can attend meetings without being a member, and if you dec##e to join the membership fee is $50 annually. Voting members are those that have had two of their knives juried in. That can happen whenever you feel ready. We don't expect perfection (even if that were possible) because the Guild is all about promoting and advancing the craft of hand made knives. The meetings are intended to do just that.
The next meeting is April 12 and 13 at Montgomery Community College in Troy. It's a two day meeting but you don't have to attend both days if your schedule doesn't allow. The demonstration schedule for the meeting will be posted here in the coming months. Cons##er bring yourself and a knife or two to our next meeting. |

Welcome to the forums.
Like Andrew sa##, you don't have to be a member to attend the meetings. The upcoming April meeting is the biggest meeting of the year. It brings knifemakers and bladesmiths together from all over NC, Virginia, SC and even Georgia. Both days will be full of demonstrations of various types and the amount of information passed along is amazing. Well worth attending. |
