G'Day Guys
I've made myself an etching machine but apart from stencils for my logo I am not sure on what else i need. I've seen pictures of machines and on the negative lead there is an block with some sort of fabric on it. Do I need one of these or not?
Your help on this matter would be great.
Regards from Australia

I ended up having to go to an EDM supplier and get a block of carbon to act as an electrode. When I tried a Stainless block it corroded and contaminated the etch.

Yes, you will need one. Try to find a block of carbon, wrap a piece of felt over it and dampen it with you electrolite, then etch. The felt is to hold the electrolite, the carbon acts as the electrode.

Hi Ben,
Just tell me where to post some of the felt you need. By the way I am again making etchers and the stencil maker you told me of seems to have the stencils we need.

Cheap and easy source of suitable carbon blocks are car dynamo brushes. The even have a wire attatched to connect on to.
