G'Day Guys I've made myself an etching machine but apart from stencils for my logo I am not sure on what else i need. I've seen pictures of machines and on the negative lead there is an block with some sort of fabric on it. Do I need one of these or not? Your help on this matter would be great. I ended up having to go to an EDM supplier and get a block of carbon to act as an electrode. When I tried a Stainless block it corroded and contaminated the etch. |

Yes, you will need one. Try to find a block of carbon, wrap a piece of felt over it and dampen it with you electrolite, then etch. The felt is to hold the electrolite, the carbon acts as the electrode. |

Cheap and easy source of suitable carbon blocks are car dynamo brushes. The even have a wire attatched to connect on to. |
