Just saw some amaizing Scrimshaw art and feel like I must try it.
There are some DVD available but I don't see any online Scrimshaw tutorials.
Do you know any?

Cool "That's a good one!"

I think as you go, you'll find as many ways to do scrim as there are ways to beat a knife from a piece of steel. I have not read two books nor talked to two people who even use the same tools!!! Some even use a tattoo machine!!! Check over in "fine embelishment" and read some posts from my friend "Lori Restenen",, she does excellent scrim, and she is a very nice person too! ---jon moore

so far lori has been a great help to me in my schrimshaw dabblings!! i still wanna try to use a tattoo machine but i need to make one specifically tuned for that procedure and i need to find a needle that won't dull as fast as the needles i have used in 14 yrs of tattooing!! maybe a carbide nib??? but i like you looked to no avail to find tutorials on schrimshaw and so far i found none. i picked up a pin vise handpiece a while back at blade and i am now using high quality sewing needles to scratch in my artwork. talking to lori would help immensely!!! i met her at blade and not only is she a fine artist she is a fine lady.-fed
