Winter meeting scholarship knife
Hello everyone,
Ok, the back story: A couple of weeks ago, Don Tommey emailed me and asked if I would be interested in donating a knife for the scholarship raffle for the upcoming winter meeting. I was honored to be asked to do this and told him I would. I immediately thought of the piece of damascus that I had got from an iron in the hat at a previous meeting. Whats neat about this damascus, is that it is part of the bar that was made as a demo by Stephan Fowler at the twins shop! I was on long break this week, so I decided to make the knife. I just finished it up today, so here it is. Specs: Blade - Damascus made by Stephan Fowler, forged by myself Guard - Wrought Iron Handle - Oak from a block that had been on my handle material shelf for about two years OAL- 9 3/4" Blade length - 5" from guard to tip Handle - 4 1/2" from guard to butt and without further ado... I am going to try and get some better pictures up at some point, these are just from my cell phone. What do ya'll think? -Adam Last edited by Adam Reese; 12-06-2012 at 07:45 PM. |

Carl I hear ya, I haven't won one yet. I think I am going to start getting Jerry Costin to buy my tickets for me. That is the winning-est man I have ever met! -Adam |

Ok guys, just an update:
After looking over the knife and holding it more, I decided that the handle was a bit to thick. I asked my wife what she thought of it over all, and with out me saying anything, she confirmed the handle was a little thick. So, I took it back out into the shop and sanded it down some. It feels much better now, and I think it looks better as well. Here are some quick pics -Adam |
