Question Is This A Switchblade?

I am new to this site and new to switchblades. While out fishing yesterday I found a knife that I had trouble opening. I finally discovered that to open the knife the lower part of the handle has to be pushed in opposite directions which causes the blade to shoot up from the side. The knife is closed in the same fashion, by pushing the handle in opposite directions. I was wondering is this is considered a switchblade. So far the knives I have found listed as "switchblades" have a button or lever. I would really appreciate any help.
Thanks!

A switch blade is a knife that has a release on the handle, when used the blade flips open automatically, without having contact with the blade.

From what you described I would consider that a switchblade.

I will have to agree the blade is activated by moving parts of the handle, and no manual assist to the blade.

Moving parts of the handle activates the spring that opens the blade, kinda like pushing a button or lever, to me that is considered a auto or switchblade.

I will have to admit I have never seen such a release on a auto knife. Are there and makers mark on it?

Can you share a Pic?

Jeff

The only marking is "440 Stainless" on the blade. I will try to get a picture on here. Not sure how to do it.
