pichok knife, Uzbekistan

i bought this knife yesterday in an antique market for 25$,

it's called a pichok knife, and it was made in Uzbekistan, they are basically a utility knife, it's not vary old I'll say 10-20 y/o,

blade-16cm,total-28cm, the knife was hand forged, blade is stainless steel, and the handle is sheep's horn and some kind of soft metal that is used in most of the pichok knives,

i like this knife vary much, but not only because it's an old antique market knife, this knife is amazingly ergonomic, lightweight, and strong,

i like it because you can see haw this knife contributed to the knives we carry today,

I thank you for reading, and hope you have find it interesting

Thanks for sharing that. That is a real nice knife. Nice lines. How did you find out its origin and what is the handle material?

I've seen a pic of a similar knife, and did a little research, in Russian and English, for pichok knife, pichak knife, Uzbekistan knife...
i think the handle material is some kind of sheep or goat horn.

Very interesting - that snail is awesome!

The blade, guard and pommel look to be the same metal. Is it steel or possibly an alloy or even aluminum?

It may or may not be old. Are there any markings on it?

the guard and pommel are made of the same metal, but the blade is made of a different metal, the guard and pommel das look like some kind of aluminum, or another soft metal, and about the markings, no it dasn't have any markings.

The Handle if I'am not mistaken is what was once sold as Russian Impalia, which actually is a type of goat horn.
