Rebirth

This knife started life with an unstabilized ancient Kauri handle. (mistake--that wood requires stabilization.

It was an EDC, then a tool box knife at the hanger and later the garage.
I've been abusing it for years, but it always cut well and held an edge requiring little edge maintenance.

The sheath finally came apart, and it found its way back into the shop as a bench knife.

I decided it needed new life.
I took it down to bare blade, lightened the tang a bit, drilled new pin holes, mirror polished it, and re-etched.
The new handle is textured stabilized Cedar burl.

I call it Yellow Bird (after the legendary RUF racer).

Nice knife and hamon. The handles are unique and very handsome. I like a few basic shapes for knives and this is one of them. Nice job and holds a good edge you say? Not much else to ask for.

I appreciate it.
I don't know if I want to keep it or sell it.
