another sanding belt rack idea

I had belts all over the place, so I though I'd try to organize them a little. I found a spot to hang a sheet of .5" plywood, and assembled the rest of the parts. I used some 1.5" PVC (cut to 2.25" lengths), some metal disks (these are actually candle cups that I bought years ago from Jere Kirtpatrick), and some quarter inch bolts, nuts, etc. After I put it together, I decided I'd add 10 more hangers, in between the ones you see here, except that they'll be about 12" below each row of these. The new hangers will be for used belts, and the original ones are for new belts only. I'm going to label (with a scripto) the metal disks to show the grit, micron, or whatever. Also, since belts seem to twist and warp while on the rack, if you look closely you can see that I put lead weights at the bottom of each grit of belts. The hardest part was just finally realizing that I needed to get it done. I procrastinated for a year on this project.

That is entirely way too organized. Isn't half the excitement digging through the 50 grit pile trying to find a 220?? It's like digging through presents of clothes at Christmas trying to find the ones with toys, right?

Robert, I was defeated as soon as you said, "I found a spot to hang a sheet of .5" plywood".
