Once again, SANDY MORRISSEY
shows why he is a Master Leather Craftsman. Recently I posted some photos of sheaths that Sandy had finished for me for some WWII Theater Knives. Today I got a orange paper wrapped package from Georgia - it could only mean one thing!!!!
Here are the final 5 sheaths: Thank you very much my friend, the check is in the mail! Aluminum D-Guard, blade from an old file Solid Brass Handle, blade from an old file Appears to be an old fillet knife blade Older Ka-Bar with an Deer Antler Crown buttcap Nice example of a dagger! It is a darn shame that for the most part we will never know who made most of the WWII Theater knives. There are documented knives around but for the most part they remain anonymous. A shame, there was alot of talent and skill that went into a lot of these knives. At least by having sheaths made for them their legacies of WWII will continue. Sandy my friend, thank you very much. |

Sandy, that is a great group of sheaths, each one relecting the personality of the knife it carries. That first one is really spectacular. That's quite a group of knives as well. That last dagger is really nice. It's funny because when I was a kid these knives were almost common and other than this group, I haven't seen any in years. I'm going to have to pay more attention at the gun shows and flea markets. They could still be out there.

Out there
Paul,
They are out there, just have to look for them! The top two were from E-Bay while the bottom 3 came from an Antique Mall, Antique Show, and the dagger, from a knife show. The dagger was tremendously overpriced; $10 sealed the deal. The top two were $100 total while the old KaBar was $25 and the fillet was $40. This old blind squirrel finds many acorns!!! |

I also saw a few 'theater knives' in made by servicemen in Vietnam; much more common were knives made by locals, including those bought in Thailand and the Philippines. The individual history of these knives could inspire several novels I'm sure.
Beautiful work Sandy -- I agree with Paul, the D-guard sheath is my favorite, if only because of the unusual design. I guess the 'old dog' had another trick for us after all Mike __________________ Trying to become the kind of man my dog thinks I am http://www.fototime.com/ftweb/bin/ft...E4E363B}&tio=0 |

I'm with MtMike, Love the D-Guard sheath Sandy. It makes my day to see a new "Sandy" sheath on the forums, like a box of Cracker Jacks, ya never know what you're gonna get.

Lucky you to own those knives and Sandy's sheaths. One on these days I'll get to keep one of the sheaths I get from him.

Sandy is the Master Maker....
I have 4 sheaths Sandy made that I literally buried the knives and kept the sheaths to study... One of the best knife making investments I've ever made... |
