First Bowie/mortised tang/black &white ebony and brass guard

This was a little harder than I expected and I nearly scrapped the handle and started over, but got it straightened out. It is as stated Black and White Ebony with a brass guard and O-1 tool steel, 1/4". 9" blade, distal taper, and 14" OAL. Thanks for looking. BTW, I have got to get a new sharpening system as the little diamond stone I got at Lowes keep scratching my blade as the pics show

It looks great for a first attempt, Mitchell. I have to say it's the first time I've seen anything but black ebony, and I like it.

Ever notice how things slow down on a holiday weekend? I think it's happening here.

Good work, though. Keep it up.

Yeah, I figured everyone was out doing stuff, but trolling for opinions anyway, I do love this wood which is why I got a big block of it when I found it....it's hell to cut though, I used a small woodworking bandsaw I borrowed...it did a terrible job....it's dense and you need a respirator when working it as well, anyhow, I used some real belts(Norton) on this blade and it was loads easier....I guess you get what you pay for.

Looks good Mitchell. Not to shabby for a first. Looking forward to the next one.

I'd need to sell the knife to buy some sheath material gonna post a new pic as I did a vinegar etch and brought out a pretty nice hamon on it. Also....tested the edge, so far hacked two 2X4's in two and cut endless amounts of paper and still shaves
