DLC Coating

Has anyone tried DLC or interested in that coating? I've heard that it is very durable. After a lot of searching I found a place that will do it for $35 per blade, but only in larger batches (30 blades min). I think I want to try it, but would like to hear from the experts. I'm still pretty new at this.

Several years ago there was a big trend in custom knifemaking with TN (titanium Nitride) and BC (Boron Carbide) "coatings". At the time many people were jumping on the bandwagon.

The biggest hype about both were their high hardness, and how it would add the the edge holding of a blade. What nobody took into consideration is that ANY blade will eventually dull, and require sharpening..... when sharpened, the coating is removed, and you're back to the base material on the edge. Long story short, it fell out of favor as not being worth the money it cost. Although the coating you mentioned is obviously not either TN or BC, it will face the same issues if used on blades.
