Thanks Tony! I'll post up some pics once I get her done and I'll put a nice sheath together for it. I still have quite a bit of shaping and finish work to do.

OK.... I have finished this Bowie resto-mod project and updating with pics.
I love the blade patina and didn't fight it. Managed to get a very good cutting edge (with a lot of work). Sheath is designed slightly high on the belt so this bowie isn't a leg slapper. It will now have many more years of useful service instead of being buried in a landfill.

Fantastic work. The sheath looks bomb-proof, and it's beautiful to boot! I'm inspired. Thank You

Well Rockhound, that is just outstanding work and results! Have never seen a leather washer handle with flats like that, usually they are always round. And it looks great that way, as do the brass pommel and guard + spacers. I think the pits give it great character, and tell a story.

The sheath is exceptional. Love how you took the time and put the finished side out on the belt loop. The stamping and grooves are outstanding also, along with the overall design. Much better than what that knife would originally have had. I can also see that the stitching holes all line up in the center of the grooves, and nicely burnished edges. That I know takes attention to detail.

Thanks for the pics.

Thanks guys!
The owner bailed out on me about halfway through this so it is officially mine. I gave him $20 since he said he'd paid $10-$15 for it at a garage sale.... and frankly, the guy is down on this luck. I didn't put much money into it but a lot of time.... which was extremely fun! My first work shaping and attaching pommel and guard on a knife so it was a valuable exercise for me. Actually, first work on any type of stick tang. I find the leather work to be pure fun and need to invest in more tools/stamps/literature. I still have a lot to learn there too.
It'll ride nice on my gun belt for open carry as a utility knife at my mine so I'm glad things worked out the way they did.
Thank you participants of this thread for the inspirations and kind words, especially Tony. You guys are awesome and always so helpful, even to the little pups like me.
