Another unanswered question.http://www.knifenetwork.com/forum/images/smilies/redface.

Go to a weld supply store and buy some bronze rod and use a torch and melt the end to a little ball. Even a propane torch will do little dia. rod. They don't carry brass and I've never tried it cause I was a TIG welder and brass under an electric arc the zinc vaporizes so you end up with bronze anyway, but under a torch I guess it doesn't. Ask them for samples because they sell that stuff by the pound, but they have some neat alloys like aluminum bronze.

Stick the rod in a vise just above the top and leave about 1/8 in and melt it. Use vise grips if the vise pulls too much heat away, but it shouldn't. I have done it dozens of time, but I was using oxy-acetylene.
