Prayers and thoughts are with you and yours. Just went through this myself back in Oct with my father. You are right, Hopsice folk rock! Take Mr Fowlers advice and find out what other services are offered. Cause you'll need to get away once in a while, even if its just to take the wife to lunch or run some errands etc. Call, we can talk about Bball.

Thanks everyone!

Well, Mandi had to head back home this evening....she starts her 6 day work cycle tomorrow. I'm just starting my first "round the clock" vigil. With Cindy having to work, it will be up to me to watch over/take care of Mom.

I had a quick bite this evening, as soon as Cindy got home, then hit the bed for a couple of hours. It's going on 11:30pm, and I can't remember the last time my eye were open this late.

Mom is slipping "downhill". The Hospice Nurse was here today, and estimated that we might have a week or so....but I have to agree with her when she said..."I've watched over a lot of people, and have never seen an expiration date on any of them." All in God's time.

May God give me the endurance and strength to make it through this.

OK folks....now I'm just running on......on......on I don't know what. It's 11:20am, and I've been going since about 10:30pm last night.
Aside from the obvious, so far this situation has taught me that I have no idea how anyone could sit around and watch "day time" TV! This stuff will rot your brains out! Last night I found an all night news show.....but it seemed like it was more "entertainment" then news. So far today about the only thing I've found is a show on Discovery channel called "American Guns"...but even it's nothing more then another "reality show".

Gee....guess I must be gett'in punchy......talking about TV on a knife forum!

I hear you with the tv. I used to love tv but somewhere along the line it lost its appeal. I doubt I have turned ours on in 3yrs. I do watch a lot of movies though.

Also I just want to say that I'm sure the hospice worker appreciates you appreciating them. My mother looked after brain injured and elderly people for years and it is pretty thankless/difficult/emotional work. It seems like appreciative family members were often the exception, not the norm.

Ed, I know it can be ROUGH trying to keep the eyelids open all night... Matter of fact, I'll be back at some of that in real short order. If you ever need, just call and I'm sure I'll find something to chat your ear off about....course that might make you more sleepy?

In all seriousness, you're doing a great thing being there for your family when they need you most. Continued prayers for you all.

First I want to thank everyone for your prayers. Without them I doubt we would have made it through.

Cindy's Mom passed peacefully, at approx. 11:55pm tonight....April 26, 2012. Cindy was with her, holding her hand. We are awaiting the arrival of the Hospice nurse. She will be cremated with the remains spread in the mountains.

Thanks to all our friends and our "Knife World" family. It's been an extremely tough year for us...Cindy lost her Dad 2 month ago, to the day, and now her Mom. We can only hope and pray that the rest of this year will be better.
