What kind of leather to cover wood core scabbard?
Hi guys,
I need an advice. Starting a new project involving wood core, leather covered scabbard for a short sword (20" blade). Never tried this construction before, not sure what kind of thin leather I should use and where to get it in small quantity (I really need just a couple sqft). I saw this mentioned on one of the threads here, sounds like the kind of leather I need: " "book binding" leather which is usually a thin (1/2 -2 oz) pattern grained vegtan calf/cowhide ". Any suggestions on where I can buy a few sq ft of it? The closest I found is this: https://www.siegelofca.com/view_cat_product.asp?id=70 Which is 10 sqtf min Vegetable Goatskin 2 oz. If I don't get any better suggestions, I will probably go with it. Thank you. Alex. |
