Week 23 --- tight race!

Dang men ... the photo race is getting tighter every week. For a minute there, I thought Richard and/or Rade were going to tie Fred and force a runoff.

You guys are doing some killer work. I believe the one thing that this contest is doing is right on target. We wanted the contest to give people the motivation to improve their imaging by forcing some competitive spirit on every entrant in the effort. This is really starting to show. Plus, it's great to look at other's work up close and see what's being done, tried and essentially ... what is possible.

The one thing that I want to say as a ... (cough-cough ... red faced, clears throat ) professional web designer ... is this: I know for a fact that, as a group, CKD members, who are active in the photo area, are among the best in the industry out here producing photos for their knives week in and week out.

So, you may not win ever time ...
But, head to head with the general knife industry public out here on the web, your work is in the top 1-10% depending on where you are in the learning curve. I know ... looking at sites is all I seem to do any more.

In the end, my goal is to see that everyone here grows their skills to reach the top 1-3% over the course of time. As I see it, given all the help being handed out by Terrill and the other members, you are all doing some top notch learning here ... and in some cases (like mine) learning some cool technique too!

I was also glad to see that the Dogman came back into the ring. He must have the new job under control now, so you all better get tight, quick. He's pretty strong! Glad you're back in, Dog!

I'm keeping a scorecard on the weekly event winners. In the first week of January 2002, I will announce the CKD 2001 Photographer of the Year! This will be the person with the most wins for 2001. There's plenty of time left for anyone to grab it ... so get going if you want to win the title belt! It will be worth it, trust me!

No matter how you put it, this was one of the best weeks yet. ARE YOU GUYS TRYING TO PUT ME OUT OF BUSINESS? The quality of the shots would make any photographer proud. For those who came in second, etc. take my word for it, this week was so good that I'm sure a lot of the votes were cast for a personal favorite knife design and not the quality of the photo!

I have to agree with Alex the quality of the photos being entered is great. My compliments to everyone who entered. Rich and Rade both of you had winning shots and to come within one vote each of Fred says a lot on the kind of work you're doing.

It's nice to see the renewed interest in these contests and some new people posting. What I find unfortunate is the number of votes cast. Nine photos entered and 22 votes there's something wrong here and I have to wonder why more people don't vote? That 500 plus views is missleading. can someone please clear those numbers for each week? I wish I had an idea to encourage more people to enter and to vote, but aside from putting a banner up on CKD's Front page to point people here, or to suggest to people who post on different forums that help is available here with their pics. I'm sorry to say I'm stumped.

YEA, RIGHT!!!

It was tight between Jens and I. We battled it out the entire contest and ended up in a tie. And to top that off, HIS picture was better.

Hmmmmmm.......I wonder if I would lose many knives if I just mailed them to people to look at?????????

Anyone wanna dissect my pic? It was kinda plain, taken in a well lit motel room with a Sony Mavica FD75.

Yeah Paul, if you want to tell the story of why you were in a motel room with a knife and a camera <img src=">

Nothing really to pick apart Paul. Sure, I like a flare in photos, but thats just me. Your photo was basic, but did very well in showing the knife clearly and easily, and thats whats important. Remember when ya showed me a few of your first pics in chat way back when? Well, your entry is a huge improvement. Keep it up, and you'll be just fine.

I think all the pics this week collectively made up the strongest line up of any contest yet. Bruce Evans really caught my eye, and my vote. I think the pic could have used a tad bit of sharpening in photo-deluxe, but the set up and theme really made up for that. Great pic.

I think from a technical view, its hard to argue that dogman nailed it. There is not one single fault that I can find in it....if it werent for Bruces pic, dogmans would have easily gotten my vote.
