Over time i've put marks on my tool arm coinciding with varying degrees.......flat grind , scandi etc
i do have the formula for finding accurate degrees with height of blade which helped in the beginning very much , see if i can find |

Thanks for all of the replies everyone. I have to say this is an old thread and since posting it back in last September I have come quite a long way grinding wise. I grind free hand with no jigs now. Fred's bubble jig was a great help to get started and it teaches you the feel of certain angles. Once i got used to knowing about what a certain angle felt like on my platen i switched to free hand and doing great.
Again, this is one of the best sites for info and Im so thankful for you "old-timers" or more experienced guys that give out information so freely. |
