Desert Ironwood EDC
A new addition following the path of the Damasteel scaled EDC which was posted last month.
This one has: 4 1/8" D2 blade with a diamond mounted into the thumb assist. Damasteel bolsters Desert ironwood scales, presentation grade - courtesy of Dennis Greenbaum (Osprey Guy) Black and white pearl inlays in the backspacer Full filework and multiple color anodization of the Ti liners. And a row of tritium capsules inset into the inside of the backspacer. All presented in an excellent photographic collage by Coop. Last edited by Kelly Carlson; 09-12-2003 at 10:28 PM. |

Oh, Baby! I really like that. Flawless, innovative, and simply beautiful. I love your filework. It's so perfect. And the thumb assist is just great design. I also like the inlays in the backspacer.
Very nice. Me like. |

Boy Kelly, That is really something.. I like every detail, and the design is suberb.. The grind on the blade is very cool, and the knife being on the large size just makes it a home run for me... I think this is a design that if you choose to make on a regular basis will literally fly out of your shop.. I want one already.. #### nice job... Regards, Rich

Thanks for your great comments.
This knife, and its immediate predecessor, were a lot of fun to design and construct, and your positive feedback makes it even more satisfying. The tiny tritium capsules, about 1.5mm X 6mm, were found in Singapore, through a dealer who sells much larger tritium capsuled key chains on eBay: John Lim, email address - desertmn@singnet.com.sg Last edited by Kelly Carlson; 09-13-2003 at 02:03 PM. |

The pics STILL don't do this fine knife justice....
I loved this the moment I unraveled it out of the pouch. I get to 'own' it for a day or so. I'm REAL lucky! Kelly's work has been getting even better and better. It's approaching perfection--if there is such a thing. That grind is fantastic. I spent many shots with angles and pieces of foamboard helping to block the light to REALLY make the grind show up. It makes a difference, as grinds like this need to be shown in contrast. Glad it was acknowledged. And that black pearl just adds the right touch of classs to the backside. Dennis' ironwood is great. Keep it up, Kelly!! Coop |

It certainly sounds like I should develop this design direction further.
Thank you, again, for all of your great comments. |
