Aberdeen and Havre De Grace.

You will learn a lot here.
To speed things up a bit you might consider taking one of the Knet classes.

dphipps, are you familiar with the Knives Annual books? In the back they have a listing of knifemakers' cities state-by-state and then an alphabetical listing with contact info. Barnes&Noble sells 'em so if you're not inclined to buy you might be able to stop in and peek. There are quite a few makers in MD, and the lifelong home of a recently-passed godfather of all this, Bill Moran (from Fredrick). If you want to tell me what town you're from I will mapquest it and compare against the listings to see if there any any close by. Also, there is a guy that goes by the name "Osprey Guy" here on the forum who is from Baltimore. use the little search button inn the bar above and search on his name. Perhaps he can help you out, too.
BTW, I hear Don was there to watch the bay form...

You're quite welcome, Nancy.
The smell of gunpowder was overwhelming.

In all seriousness, Robbin Hudson gives private tutoring lessons on forging and making knives. He is a reknowned Mastersmith in MD and his work is rare and sought after.
The schooling is not free, nor should it be. Worth every penny of whatever he asks, if you are serious.
And, you can learn right here in the comfort of your den from Don Robinson. Your call.

Hey thanks everyone. By the way the fort is Fort McHenry. And as far as Texas goes, when I was stationed in Ft. Sill, OK we were 40 miles from Wichita Falls. I met a guy in Texas while at a Circle K or 7 Eleven and he asked me what part of Texas was Maryland in ? And he was very serious. I will look around more, I have met and talked to Mark Sentz. He lives about 15 miles from me but I haven't had time to go yet.

Anything north of Dallas is Yankeeland!
And Ft. McHenry it was. I think they named the fort after I left.

My family comes from the smokie mountains in N.C. so to us "yankee" is just a streched four letter word. Ha Ha

keith Bagley lives in White Plains, Md. He's a wonderful all round blacksmith, ferrier and bladesmith. You should be able to get his number from information. Plus, he's a former Marine! So you know he's good!
