Soldering Bronze

Has any one tried to solder Al Bronze I just tried and it did not work any suggestions. Gib

I am trying to solder a bronze guard on a knife, I am wondering if the aluminum in the bronze it stopping it and the knife 1084 are as clean as can be and the solder will not flow. Gib

I think your right on the Aluminum, I tried using some a while back with no luck, switched to brass.

You may want to experiment with differant fluxes. I was having trouble with a guard. My neighbor gave me some flux that I could use to solder a bowling ball to a cucumber.

WELL I THINK MIKE ANSWERED FOR ME .I DO USE PRE FLUX BRAZING ROD .HOME DEPOT CARRIES THESE .BUT A WELDING SUPPLY WOULD BE A REAL HELP. I DON'T BRAZE OR SOLDER GUARDS JUST TANGS.BUT IT DOES SOUND LIKE IT'S THE ALUMINUM
CONTENT.
