I am now a full time Knifemaker and taking orders. On the 24th of May, a large group of people, including myself, were laid off by my ex-company. I have thought about and wanted to go full time for years, but was always a little afraid. My ex-company helped me make that decision.

I still have a few back orders, so at this time I can't say if I have a four month or six month back order. I've never been able to spend 50 to 60 hours a week in my knife shop. I really have no idea how many knives I can produce in a month.

As most of you know, for the last year or so, I have being taking names of people that wanted to order a knife. I have been contacting them for the last week. If you have not heard from me, please contact me at at-barr@att.net.

The same goes for anyone that has placed an order. I have received several emails back, due to incorrect email addresses.

I have several new knives on my website in the 2 1/2" and 2 15/16" size. Check them out when you have a chance.

I did not publish this until now, because I was contacting the people that requested I put them on a waiting list. Right now I can deliver a knife in approximately 3 to 4 months.

Sincerely,

A.T.

I'll second that. You were a good next-door neighbor at the Blade Show.

Hi AT

Good luck mate, remember to have fun and not to be chained to the workshop.

Good Luck AT,

Hopefully you will be able to stay full time and make a comfortable living.

It is tough to get laid off, it happened to me once before and I got lucky and benefited from it. Many knifemakers become full time for that very reason. I (and the rest of the CKD) hope you can turn this into a positive event.

Remember all the times you said; "If I were in charge we would do it my way?"

You've been around long enough and have been making QUALITY knives long enough to show that "Your Way" in knifemaking is a very good way of doing things.

I wish you all the sucess you strive for and that you exceed your needs and goals.

A.T., why don't you list them here on the CKD? Best free exposure you can get!
