damascus and MOP DDR2 in the works

This is a request I had and it is still in the works. I find that most people tend to appreciate custom knives and pens more when they understand greater details as to what is involved in it's construction, so I like to take detailed photo's of that process.

Basic stuff here.

Slightly BORING! Client ask me to kick it up some notches, sooo.

will need some work on the bearing here.

This is some incredible, stunning beautiful damascus. I love this stuff!

At the very end of the blade we have a slight lip, will have to reshape that and re-etch the end, not a problem at all.

This is before I did a test fit to know how the lock up would be and before the lock fitting.

Mother of Pearl, Love this stuff.

sample look before any cuts are made, want to be 1,000% sure before any work is done. Not only is this stuff expensive but I would not be a happy camper if I botched it.

Amazing stuff.

Now to figure out screw colors

Thanks so much for the detailed pics.
I haven't built a kit yet and when I look at those small pics on the websites it's very difficult to know what all those parts are for. Seeing it all up close like this makes it all very clear.

Thanks again,
Michael

And that is why I like macro photo's so much. You can clearly see the good, the bad and the ugly in things and gain a better understanding and really appreciate what does go into things.

A little mistake

ok this is bound to happen sooner or later to everyone in the field. I chipped the MOP and it's ruined.

the top one is mine from about 2 years ago, the bottom is this new one. As you can see the chip is large and I bought a new set of scales for it. This one i can still use on a smaller folder.

THIS is the new set. I think I like this one better than the old one but I have yet to see MOP like this that I did not like.

Final images.

This is the new pearl on the side that broke. All that is left is to sharpen and mail it out.

I almost hate to ask but is that spacer material between the bolsters and handles or gaps? If gaps could I suggest a spacer to fill them, wouldn't be too hard.

the one with 2 folders in it does have spacers between the MOP and bolsters. I put that there for the contrast mostly.
