slipjoint patterns

Lately I am interested in doing some nice slipjoint folders and would like to know where to get accurate patterns of the various pieces. Any help would be appreciated. Right now just single blade one. I really like Barlow's and a good coke bottle model with spearpoint blades.

If you really want a truly accurate pattern that you can just copy, buy a kit knife. That's as real as any pattern can get.

"How to Make Folding knives" by Lake, Centofante, and Clay has a lot of patterns in it plus many good tips from those makers on how to build a slip joint folder.

Finally, try the Search key, as I'm pretty sure I've seen this question discussed here before and there were quite a few varied responses to it....

Hello Herman,

I started off by busting up an old "Old Timer" and using that for a pattern. You can learn a lot about a knife when you take one apart. I have scanned slipjoint pattern available in the Slipjoint tutorial on my website. Here is a direct link to the scan: Skipjoint Pattern

Hope this helps. -chris
