First works
Here are a few that I am working on (1095) and a jig for blades. I don't have a problem cutting out the shapes, got to learn when to stop.
Also picked up a 5 gallon air tank for the making's of a forge. Last edited by DonFG; 01-08-2013 at 09:56 PM. |

Do you use that jig in conjunction with a grinder? Interesting fabrication.
What style of forge are you intending to build? __________________ Carl Rechsteiner, Bladesmith Georgia Custom Knifemakers Guild, Charter Member Knifemakers Guild, voting member Registered Master Artist - GA Council for the Arts C Rex Custom Knives Blade Show Table 6-H |

Man you like to make em Curvy. I'm also curious about your jig. What do you use it for?

I use the jig to grind the bevels on the edges. I have a Craftsman 2x42 belt grinder and I don't have a steady hand or eyes for that matter, that's the purpose of the jig.
Attach the knife blank to the jig adjust the angle and slowly drag across belt grinder. I have a larger table on the belt grinder to allow me to slide the jig. I'll post a small video of it this week. As for the forge, I am looking at a propane setup with a ventura burner. Also ordered an Omegaette HH308 Mini Thermometer that takes a K-type thermocouple. About the curvy blade, first attempt from an old table saw blade. |
