Guy's I'm going to have to bail out on this one. I thought I would have time but due to some recent set-backs. I'm going to have to drop.
Andrew, sorry I'll try the next one. |

Sorry to hear you have to drop out Andy.
Well, I was out in the shop this weekend and did a little cutting and grinding. For my kith entry I've decided to combine the words and make the knife I think an assasin would be happy with at hunting camp. Specs: 0.250" 154CM stainless o/a length ~ 12" cutting edge length ~9" handle length ~4.5" spine to cutting edge ~3.5" cutting edge is hollow ground. thick at the heel and gradually tapers to the tip. Not the best pic in the world but it will give a general idea. Anyone else making any progress? __________________ Brad www.andersonknives.ca Available knives http://andersonknives.ca/Available%20Knives.html |

Sorry To see you leavin the KITH Andy. I was looking forward to see your project..
Holy Crap Brad!!!!!!!!!!! That is one bad ass looking knife. Now that has taken a lot of design, thought, imagination, and some serious skill. That looks pretty ROCKIN to me. I still haven't come up with the design that I am happy with yet . I better get on it. Shane Last edited by spaknives; 08-12-2008 at 09:44 PM. |

Andy, I could have sworn I posted when I pulled your name from the list. hmmm... gremlins at work.
Anyway, I know how it is. I've had to drop from a KITH or two before myself. I just never had the foresight to do it so early--I always told myself I'd find time. Brad, That thing is wicked! Explain it for us. Maybe a word on how to hold and use it. Will it have a handle other than steel? I'd hate to be the sheathmaker! lol Pretty cool brother! __________________ Andy Garrett https://www.facebook.com/GarrettKnives?ref=hl Charter Member - Kansas Custom Knifemaker's Association www.kansasknives.org "Drawing your knife from its sheath and using it in the presence of others should be an event complete with oos, ahhs, and questions." |

Brad's blade is sweet.
I may still possibly make it, if I can I'll jump back in. I do so enjoy these things. At any rate I'll be watching closely. I can see minds smokeing on the design process. |

I am going to call my design "Hakulu Warrior" h for hatchet, k for knife, and ulu for ulu. warrior for it's fierce look. You can use it as a hatchet by gripping the handle as you normally would grip a hatchet. You can use it as a knife by choking up a bit and putting your first finger or first 2 fingers in the holes and utilizing the forward portion of the blade. You can also use it as an ulu by putting your middle 2 fingers through the holes and gripping it as you would an ulu. I'm not yet sure what will be on the handle but it will end up either stabilized wood or G10. I will be making the sheath for this, as I do for all my knives. __________________ Brad www.andersonknives.ca Available knives http://andersonknives.ca/Available%20Knives.html |

I like it even more now that you explained it!
Thanks! I think some ebony or some of that black dyed, stabilized Box Elder Burl form Staburl would look great on there. The organic shape screams for a natural material. progress
I will try and post pics later in the week. I have profiled out a couple of big bad blades, now I just have to pic. One is inspired by the Beck Tracker knife and the other three are cutting comp, camp knives. Blades are about 9.5" and I am using the handle design from the recurve bowie. They feel really good in the hand Using O6 and D2. Should be good! Dan

I think I've settled on an assassin's knife inspired by the knife Lou Diamond Phillips uses in Young Guns II.
