A Big thanks to Bing
I recently had the privilege of visiting Bing and spending some time in his shop. I brought down two 5160 stock removal knives I'd been working on and with some great help from him, we got them more or less in good condition . He spent some time showing me some fun tricks and tips that will make life MUCH better on future knives. We finished the handle on one and I just finished up this one on my own. It's got several small issues, all of which were due to me during the initial process. Bing helped get them reasonably under control. The handle went together fairly well for me using his methods-just a few things I need to pay better attention to next time around and it'll turn out even better. So, here it is. 5160, differential heat treatment, heavily rounded spine, and some really pretty Amboyna burl that Bing gave me. Thanks again for a great time, Bing.
The beginning, after glue-up. Some shaping of the handle, courtesy of Bing's teaching. |

Nice little utility hunter Jeremy. At first, I thought you just realized Bing was driving after a bad batch of Mexican food.
Thanks for showing it, Craig |

Folks, We spent the whole weekend just messing around. As you can see Jeremy took home a few ideas. I took home renewed energy. It was a very good time for me as well. Looking forward to seeing what Jeremy comes up with in the future. Bing __________________ Bruce Bingenheimer MLazyB Custom Knives ABS Journeyman Smith |
