Blade Show 2013 is in the Books

Just got home last night from the Blade Show. As far as sales, this was my best Blade Show in a LONG time. I took 13 pieces with me, and brough home 3. All of the Framelock flippers sold within the first hour of the show. (hint, hint on what you should be making!). I've resisted it for a lot of years, and have said many times.... "Tacticals are just a passing fancy." But a person would have to be blind to not see it......the main doors of the show USED to enter into the ABS section.....but now they enter into the Handmade section, and just watching the crowd leaves not doubt that we are dealing with a whole new generation of knife buyers, and they want something that they can stick in their pocket and pack around.

Since I was there alone, I didn't get much time to "browse" around, and not feeling all that hot, I didn't hang in the pit as much as I used to.....but it was really great to see everyone, with special thanks going out to Bing and Steve.......just had a great time with them both.

I stumbled into the shop this morning, made a pot of coffee, and looked around......I think the next couple of days are gona be "clean up" in Ed's shop! Looks like a tornado went through this place.

Welcome back Ed and congrats on the great show. They won't just pack'em around, those flippers have to stand up to thousands of 'thwack's'.

Good for you, Craig

Congrats on a great show. I bought your ironwood and Damascus hunter and have had many great compliments, improperly directed at me for buying as opposed to you for making it. People are stunned by the unique blade, showing both Damascus on edge and plain Steele on spine. I'm going to send you and email asking for a detailed description on what you've done so I can better explain it to people. The seem almost looks crystalized. I love this knife. Thanks again. That's great, Ed-glad to hear sales went so well. Talked briefly to Bing and sounds like he did well as did Steve. Sure would be fun to go to Blade one of these days....

Welcome back, Ed, and congrats on all the sales. Now get a little rest before you start cleaning up.

Who wants to bet that Ed made more $ on his 10 knives he sold at the Blade show than I will make selling my next 100 knives, all my shop equipment, my wifes cat and my first born son?? Congrats on a great show Ed!

Ed is right about everything said. I had a great time. Just getting to go was enough for me. Selling a few helped with expenses and all. (I will be going next year as I already paid for the table). Best part is meeting up with old friends and making new ones.

Special thanks to Ed and Steve

Bing

I did enjoy our too-brief visit, Ed. And I hope to do it again next year.
And good to see Bing as well.

Glad to see everyone there, and Ed you had a great show from what I saw. Glad to see you up and about. I really want to go again next year. Hope to have a table.

Hey Karl, you gonna test? I hope to be if I don't do it in San Antonio.
