New old knife, Old Maker!

I went to a gun show today to see what prices were like. I ran into a friend and Wolverine Knife Club Member. Frank had a very interesting knife, which I had to have - a triangular shaped dagger with wood handle; made by one of the original founding fathers of the Knife Makers Guild, Dan Dennehy. It has a really nicely carved sheath with two belt loops to wear it horizontally on the belt:

I googled Dan Dennehy and got a phone number for him in Del Norte, CO. He is pushing 90 years old; but took the time out to talk to me. Based on the stamp (Yuma, AZ) he said the knife, which he calls his Tri-Edge, was made before 1976 before he moved from Yuma to Del Norte, CO. He was inducted into the Knife Makers Guild Hall of Fame last year; interesting history eh?

That's cool Tim.

Great to know the history of a maker and his knives is being respected.

Thanks,

Oh, and I have a client that's been after me for a year to do something similar. Thought he was crazy! That makes me feel better. I may actually make the knife for him now.

Again, thanks.

chiger,
