Engraved Colt Single Action Army
A recent finished [in-the-white] project for a client.
3rd. generation SAA done in a semi-traditional style reminiscent of old factory work, plus a few twists of my own. The grips are one-piece old ivory...[carver unknown]. The frame will receive color case-hardening, with the rest of the metal blued. I hope to receive quality images of the final product from the finisher. It was nice cutting throughout...with the cylinder being slightly harder, but not difficult at all. Tim, you're unreal! That's beautiful 1st class craftsmanship and artistry! Like Buddy, I can't wait to see the end result. Gold would have been a nice effect, but maybe a little busy for this one. I'll take it just like it is!!

Looks great Tim. Did you remove the barrel to engrave it? Did you remove the background? Thanks for you help, hope to cut on one someday.

Very nice Tim
How about a post when the finish is on. I would like to see the case coloring with the semi relief on the frame. That should look interesting. Mike |

Thank you for the comments!
Yes, I do hope I receive some good clear shots of the finshed gun. Joe, the pistol was completely disassembled and polished before I started. The background was done with a fine bead punch. I would have liked to accent this piece with some gold bands or framed panels, but that was not what he wanted. My client has conservative tastes, and was adamant about this not looking like a "Pimp gun"...[his words]. It made me smile too! Ron,
Yes this had to be annealed, stripped and polished. The shop I work with [RGS Restorations] takes care of that for me. Normally they'd do the proper hardening and re-case color, but the client wanted his friend at "Smoke-'N-Guns" [Waukeegan, IL.] to put the final finish on it. They do great work out of their shop too. Tim __________________ http://www.adlamengraving.com |
