Interesting to see a personal point of view like that. I have letters from a great-great-great?-grandfather who was a '49'er. Couple years ago my wife and I went to California and we took a day trip to see Downieville, which was where he panned for gold. I bought a small vial of water from the river with a few flakes of gold in it. It was really exciting to see what he was talking about.
