Jot & Julie...

...that's Jot Singh Khalsa and Julie Warenski, for those who may not have known. This folder was my BIG leap into buying custom knives. I am still happy with my decision. This has very colorful abalone handles, which aren't too busy (as abalone can sometimes get). Jot (pronounced 'Jote') is a wonderful man and he has a *most* recognizable style.

As does the reknowned Julie Warenski, doing her part on the stunning engraving. Notice the texture of the gold! Also, I've still yet to find a more elegant thumbstud.

Why this post? No reason--just because I wanted to do 'justice' to this knife.

Coop

Coop-

You certainly need not explain "why this post"...this knife is a "Stunner"!!! Congratulations on a great acquisition.

Jot's knives are always gorgeous...he has a knack for selecting the most beautiful and unique materials for his handles...and knows how to use them!

Julie's work requires no qualifying...always classic, and in this case the gradient she attained with the gold is wonderfully dramatic.

Great knife!!

(Photo is not too shabby either)

Jim,

It's just great, I've admired Julies work from afar & it's fantastic.

Is it me, or does that pivot pin insert look like a globe of our fair rock?

that is a beautiful knife. the wonderful engraving is complemented by the abalone

i like abalone handled knives a lot but usually only see very busy laminates ...which i still like btw but these are really special .... what is the source of those scales and are they reconstituted at all?

i have not handled an abalone in over 25 years and have quite forgotten what they look like inside...i do remember they are yummy fried (not the shell though)

I have no idea. But you guys are right, this type of abalone is rarer than the reconstituted versions.

Colin and Alex--absolutely! The pivot and thumbstud is paua shell (another type of abalone?) and it sure loks like a globe or crystal ball to me!

Thanks to all for your comments.
