another Ruger

Here's another Ruger, this time a .22 LR that lay in the bottom of my tackle box for years and years, getting rusty and scarred up. Since I don't get much fishing done any more, I decided to clean the old girl up. She's still in the white, with a little ink rubbed in the lines to make them visible. I plan to finish her with the "French gray" color, similar to the Vaquero I showed last week. Many of the parts on this model (Single Six) are black anodized aluminum, including the handle frame and trigger guard, and the ejector housing. Don't know how they'll look combined with the gray steel, but I'm gonna try it anyway. I definitely don't want to cut on the aluminum, without a way to redo the anodizing. Besides, aluminum oxide is the same thing they make wet-or-dry sandpaper out of (ALOX). What would that do to your gravers? May have to recut the Ruger stamps on the left side of the pistol, too. Thay are a little washed-out.

There is a real "oops" on this project. Somehow the big scroll at the back of the action got to be a tall skinny oval. Must have been asleep at the hammer. Hammer and chisel again. Still trying practice plates with the Gravermach.

Hope you like it.

Bill

I really like the scroll at the barrel tip. Nice work...even with the elongated scroll.
