Edge Thickness

Hello,
When I am grinding a blade, how thin do I need to grind the edge before I stop and shapen it? Is the same for hollow and flat grinding?

Depends on the overall knife design and intended use of the blade. That's why there are so many different styles and sizes of knives, all with their own criteria for edge geometry.
We need to talk about that next time you come over. Lot more to it than meets the eye.

Aye, it depends... on a convex, I take it down to nothing, but leave a bit on a flat-grind. Also the intended use needs to be considered, a hunter/skinner/butcher's edge needs to be thinner than a knife intended for woodworking or chopping.
