VIDEO - Pink DLC coated kitchen knife
My sister asked me for an all purpose kitchen knife.
I had 5160 laying around so I decided to use it. Since I know my sister would never take good care of the blade I couldn't leave it uncoated since it would very easily oxidate. A friend of mine works at a surface treatment company and they DLC coat a bunch of dental drill bits. I asked him if he could coat a knife in with a small batch of products and he agreed. I tempered the knife at 190 celcius (375F) to try to optmize harness and edge sharpness. Take a look and tell me what you think! I've made my first knife about an year ago. I spent a lot of time making my own tools since its really hard to find good tools in Brazil. https://youtu.be/103_oEgaeDI Last edited by yuridarian; 07-23-2016 at 06:03 PM. |
