Shiver me timbers, that's a beauty!
Any pirate worth his salt would sell his grandmother for a cutlass like that.....

Cutlass

WOW! Neat blade! I remember kevin mentioning some kids ridin' by with surprised looks. Now I know why. Especially if he was donning the rag on his head!
Totally cool!

Thanks guys, I've always wanted a proper cutlass. It's the first blade I made that I was really personally scared of. It's crazy sharp and fairly heavy, the scabbard was made in self defense. Maggie has a real chili fetish, the kitchen is dripping chilis everywhere you look, we should by stock in Tobasco and Red Hot. The blade was a 3/16"x 2.5"x 2.5' slab of carbon steel I found in a welding shop dumpster and the guard is 1/8" scrap mild steel. I'm thinking of making another and doing a mirror polish on the blade.

I'm trying to quit cigarettes, thus the pipe to keep my hands busy.

I tried posting last night, but my puter was giving me the $hits. No matter what I did, I couldn't post a message so I just went to bed. He he. That always works!

That is a real piece of work Kevin. I'm really interested in forging swords, but have my hands full with tons of orders and projects as it is. I hope I can come visit you some day and we can forge a blade together. It takes a helper with a blade that size, or at least I can see where a helper would be handy. Lets make a plan to get together sometime soon and combine our knowledge. I love that cutlass. Someday, I'll forge one myself.......

Max, I'm still planning on a warm weather trip to Ohio to my friends' house--about an hour or less from Kevin, Thomas Powers, and Mongo. My friends' have a forge and lots of coal. When I finalize a date, I'll let you know. It'd be great it we could all get together. What are the dates you will be in school?

School starts on April 16 and I'll be there till around may 12th. Ohio's a pretty long haul for me, but someday I'm just going to do it! I really dislike traveling, but I can zone out and next thing I know old Jed's a millionaire and I'm there! He he. It's the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow that keeps me going.
