Hi new guy here to heat treat

Hi I'm new here.

This seems like the best place for a person who heat treats at home..

Is it true Knife guys are more hi tech than sword smiths?

Hi, welcome to the forums. About who's more high tech, that depends on the particular makers in question. Some of each group are very high tech, some of each are low tech, and everything inbetween. Which way do you lean, high or low? I'm pretty low tech myself in methods, though I try to keep track of what's going on in metallurgy so I have a good idea of exactly what my low tech methods are actually doing.

Thanks for asking AwP, I'm a lover of new ideas for sure, but it seems Metallurgy is an art, and most ideas are just recycled from the 1200's.. Those early tales of great swordmakers are great too.
