That is a great tutorial. Thanks for taking the effort!

I can see that it is time to get a welder.

thanks, Bob.......and Bob Warner, I've long admired your efforts to help out the less-established maker, thought maybe I could lend a hand, even with my limited experience...

I LMAO couple days ago when I read your post where you said you use your electric engraver to rough up a tang, I've been doing that for a couple years also, drives the little woman nuts when I fire that noisy thing up, but it works, especially around the borders.....

Frank,

Your 'limited' experience is nothing short of fantastic. The real trick is getting from the basic glue up to the finished product. And you are a master of the high polish!

Excellent tutorial...

As soon as I get time and get rid of the flu, I'm going to have to run right out and make one like that!

What a process!! Frank, you produce such great knives with regularity, that it impresses me even more to see the amount of work involved in getting them done!

Thanks so much for this time and sharing!

Is the tang held in place with just a tight fit and epoxy? No pins are needed? Same with the buttcap--the stud is just there for a glue hold, right?

Coop

thanks Jim.....just glue in most of them, if you've ever tried to destroy a handle (as I have) because of a mistake or bad material, you'll begin to understand that pins aren't necessary to create a strong handle.....you are correct, buttcap anchor does just that, gives a deep epoxy bond so the thing doesn't get knocked off arbitrarily.....

Outstanding.
The willingness of the people here to share is one of the reasons that this is the best knife site on the net.
