Surface grinder
I have a chance to purchase a Harig surface grinder for $100. The only problem is it has a three phase motor, and I don?t have three phase power. I have heard that you can use a phase converter to run this unit. I have checked the MSC web site and they do sell the converters. Has anyone ever used one of these converters ?

I use several static phase converters. Never a problem.
A $100 Harig can't be passed up. |

Bob,
Run, don't walk---------buy it!! If it's in good shape that price is one HOT deal. As for the phase converters, you would be MUCH better served with a rotary phase converter. I would not have a static converter at any price. Your motor will perform better and last longer on a rotary converter. With a static phase converter you are actually running your motor on single phase and the motor will not produce it's rated horsepower and under heavy loading will not last as long. Just my $.02.... -Mike- |
