Good old stone grinders
hey y'all
I am wondering if anyone knows where I can get one of those old fashion like 3-4 foot stone grinding wheels. I am hoping to make as close to as I can a midevil blacksmith shop and I think it would be awsome to have one of those stone wheels. Also has anyone used them before and can give tips on how to care and what not. don't need to hear it is a $#!? load of work or waist of time I figure that already but I think it will be cool to try it out. Thank you Jason __________________ Blacksmithing the only art that uses all the eliments of nature. |

I saw an article in one of the major cutlery magazines a few years back where they toured the Boker factory in Germany. There were a lot of those wheels being used for decoration around the factory.
I'm sure it would cost a small fortune to get one over here (if they would sell you one) but, if that's your thing, go for it. It would be really neat in a medieval blacksmith's shop.... |

Hacksaw-
Why don't you post this over in the outpost as well. The guys over there are into alternative methods and may be able to help out. I know Dana Acker the moderator uses a somewhat smaller peddle powered wheel. Hope this helps. Sjaqua on the historical inspiration forum might be able to help also as he is very much into the medieval stuff. Awsome ideas and thank you for the best direction.
Shipping from germany would be a pain so I think I'll look to the other forums first. Thank you again Jason __________________ Blacksmithing the only art that uses all the eliments of nature. |
