Need advice on Stag handle care

I have a Gerber 525 (marked Eddie Bauer on the blade) with a beautiful Stag handle. I use the knife for field dressing deer and noticed that the stag is yellowing and has some small cracks in in.
What care would y'all recommend for stag handles? On another site someone suggested wax and another poster suggested mineral oil. What do you guys think?

Thanks for the time and Happy New Year!

Mark

The genuine stage absorbed the blood like a dye. I would think your may be stuck with that color. You may ask for some advice in bleaching the stag, I never did any thing like that. Blood is going to be a difficult substance to remove.

Wax and oil may have been a good preventative measure, however at this point I think it would seal in the stain.
