Mid 50's Randall 12-11 Smithsonian

I picked this one up at blade this year. It's in mint condition and was undoubtedly on display for it's previous owner. It did not have a sheath, so chances are it was purchased without one.
In the 1953 Randall Catalog it mentions a $4.50 discount if no sheath was wanted.

It also stated in the same catalog seemingly trying to discourage people from ordering the knife, mentioning that the Model 1 fighter was more practical. Also stating in the 1953 catalog "We do not like to do this type of custom work".

Here it is at the blade show with it's big brother:-) one of the very earliest smithsonian's, the sub hilt.

Thanks Ronnie. What I also like about this Smith is the rounded butt cap, and the shape of the handle, being concave instead of more traditional commando.

Nice Brassback!

The concave shaped leather handle is seldom seen nowadays.

I have an old Randall / I*XL 10" Bowie with the same style.
