"Model of the Week" (Week no. 7 Model 7)

One of my favorite models. I guess because it reminds me so much of my favorite model, the model 3. I've only got a couple 7's. The first one I picked up at the Blade show this year from Perry Miller. It's in nice condition for its age.

I got this one about a year ago from Perry.

I got this one earlier this year.

Here are a pair of 7's that the Captain asked me to post for him. Notice that they have a #6 grind.

Cap, I gotta empty both back pockets to see which one the handkerchief is in!

I guess I do need to go dig around in the backyard and see what I can find. Maybe there's a jar I forgot to dig up.

ALLRIGHT!!!!! One of my favorite Models. There have been a bunch of these sold and used. They show up on Ebay in used condition often. Amazingly I do not have a new Model 7 on order.

This first one is an older one. I did not get it with this cornrow heiser sheath but I believe they are both around the same age.

here it is with a "newer" leather handled Model 7

Here we are back to the older one and the Heiser sheath

These next PICs are the "newer" leather handled Model 7. This one has been refinished by the shop.

....I have a couple of them with stag handles also. One with 7 spacers and one with 5 spacers. The forum would not let me post all my PICs in one post so I split it into two posts.

This one is a 7-4.5 with stag and 7 spacers. It came with a SBJ replacement sheath. I got an ostrich skin replacement sheath to replace the replacement sheath.

I recently got this one on Ebay. It is begging to go to the shop to be refinished.

Steve: Thanks for starting. I'm with you on the model 3 & 7! I love seeing those old ones. Very nice, Guys. This is the first "keeper" I ever picked up on e-bay. It's not only a looker, it feels like it belongs in your hand. There's not much you could not do hunting and fishing with a knife like this.

Best,

Ron

Model 7

Guys I love those old 7's. Just something about a nice older Randall that has been used. It is one of many models I don't own, but is on my list to buy.

Great photos guys, of some wonderful looking knives!

I definitely like the shape of the #7 blade. (Sorry Cap, I prefer it over the #6.)

I'll have to get me one some day.

Cheers!

Moosehead

I like this model too? the standard Model 7-4 ? like the #3?s little sister? the familiar ?hump,? great lines, curves, ready for just about anything; the #7-5/6 with its more practical appearance and flat blade, its from-the-field-to-the-table appeal. You can't go wrong with a Model 7.

Ron,
....WOW!!!! Another one of your spectacular pinned stag Randalls. Can you look at my PICs and give me some estimates on when you think they were made? Looking at Pete Hamilton's book I am thinking around early 50s for my oldest leather one, early 60s for my 7 spacer stag one and late 60s to late 70s for the other stag and the other leather one. All those PICs of spacers in the book are good but in some cases they do not get me any closer than perhaps a 15 year span a knife might have been made in.

Here's an early Model 7 in stainless, nickel-silver, micarta with finger grips (and compass)--it's one of my favorites

Hi Steve!

That knife is a real beauty, and I can see why it would be one of your favourites.

I like how you had you first name initial stamped lower down on the choil.

Also, that's an outstanding photograph in its own right.

Cheers!

Moosehead
