FKSd/Anso T2!
I've just gotten the pics of the proto from Jens and it looks stunning. This is the second in my T series (the T1 being my first project with Allen) and it should just be an amazing piece. Jens took this design added his craftsmanship to the mix and turned out a great knife.
I've posted more about it here: http://balisongtimes.com/reviews/showRev.mhtml?rid=364 I've attached a pic - more at the url above. I look forward to hearing your comments on this piece. Thanks! |

Great integration of the rings with the handle configuration Felix.., very nicely done!
Nice to have Jens on board with some Bali-Collaborating as well. Very talented guy! Thanks for the picture and links.... __________________ Pete Johnston ~~> ExamonLyf@aol.com "There is no greater wisdom.., than [KINDNESS]" "Hunters seek what they [WANT].., Seekers hunt what they [NEED]" |

That would be RWL-34 (Sweedish powder steel...60 Rc and cryo treated)

I was hoping you stuck to what you work with most..., but wanted to verify that for everyone to avoid a Bizzillion questions. Many folks on the Forums here aren't so familiar with powder metalurgy (unless it's "Damasteel")..., but I'll leave it to you to explain the particulars about RWL-34. I think it's a wonderful (and forgiving) steel to work with. In the Balisong world.., I doubt many know about it's composition (guessing).., so it may be helpful to compare it to: For example: 440C, ATS-34, and the CPM products...(i.e., S30V, etc.)... Great to have you in the relatively small group of custom makers that will take on the Balisong design! We appreciate it.., and it will show! __________________ Pete Johnston ~~> ExamonLyf@aol.com "There is no greater wisdom.., than [KINDNESS]" "Hunters seek what they [WANT].., Seekers hunt what they [NEED]" |

Well the short answer would be that it is an upgraded version of ATS-34. This really doesnt say much as I have found it to be a massive improovement in edgeholding, sharpness and probably also corrosionresistance....it is tough as nails guys....I ones tested a blade hardened also to 60Rc by bending it around 45 degrees in a vise......it returned back to straight...It is easy to sharpen using regular ceramic sharpeners like the Spyderco sharpmaker or their benchstones....
Btw...RWL-34 is half of what makes Damasteel...... I have tested this steel alot having used it for several years.......and it just keeps cutting.....!! Try it out... |

Thanks Jens .., my order is already in with Felix. I look forward to it.
And yeah.., I agree with you on quality of the steel composition. I only have a couple of knives with RWL-34..., but it certainly takes a very good edge. I sharpen with benchstones by hand (Norton Tri-Stones), and the edges of those I have hold extremely well ~~> (given the correct treatment). Onward! The T-2 is coming! __________________ Pete Johnston ~~> ExamonLyf@aol.com "There is no greater wisdom.., than [KINDNESS]" "Hunters seek what they [WANT].., Seekers hunt what they [NEED]" Last edited by ExamonLyf; 01-14-2005 at 10:54 PM. |
