You might get lucky but I sure wouldn't hold my breath. By the time most guys are ready to sell one, which is very rare, they already know someone who will buy it. You might as well look at the Grizzly or the Oregon grinders since most used ones can easily cost as much. That, or build your own ...

yeh I was just thinking usually 2x72 is kinda the end game a lot of guys work up to that grinder with a 2x48 or 2x60 before the 2x72 so you might be able to find a used 2x48 or something similar but once someone gets a 2x72 that they usually keep

Hook up with some of your local knife organizations, guilds, clubs. Often a beginning maker starts with a Griz, but as his skills develop and he seeks more grinder adaption options he will upgrade and be looking to move the Griz out of the shop (not always, but seen it happen several times). You make the connections up front with any of these groups and become a common face and it will get you on a "shorter" list.
Either that or start saving all your $1 bills, cull from your wallet each day and put in an out-of-sight jar. Be surprised how fast that grinder money will accumulate.
