Rockwell 1x42 (vs HF 1x30)

I was looking for a used table saw, and found someone who was selling one, and was also selling a Rockwell 1x42. I was able to bundle them and get it for a little more than the table saw alone.
Has anyone every used one of these? If so, how would it compare to the HF 1x30, which is what I'm currently using.

I looked on Amazon, and they have the same cheapo belts for 1x42 as they do for 1x30 (~$10 for 10), so based on that alone it seems like it would be worth it. (and yes, I know its no 2x42, let alone a 2x72)

Not really familiar with either I started with a very cheap 4x36 (the one with the disk on the side) I very quickly realized it wasn't the best and jumped right to my KMG 2x72.....However I am sure that you realise that like you said its no 2x42 or 2x72....if I was using a under powered grinder like that I would get the best belts I could to try and make up for what is lacking a lil bit...I know trugrit.com has the belts in 1x 42 size I would bet supergrit.com also does....now yea those cheap belts can be usefull in some situations but if your talking about doing the bevels or heavy profiling go get the best ceramic belts you can afford...again never used a 1 x anyting just my opinion

I have a 1x42" that beats the pants off an old 1x30" I used to have. Neither is ideal for blade grinding but if I had to choose between them the 1x42" would win hands down ...

While as Ray pointed out, the 1 x 42 isn't the ideal grinder, you mention cheap belts on Amazon. No need to further handicap yourself. If you want to use it for a while, at least get some good belts.

Two good places here:
