Old locking liner wear- fix or retire?
The knife has been carried since 1999. Has seen much use and the locking liner is worn to the point that it will travel to the opposite side. Over the years I've peened the lock to push metal back but it is getting thin.
Some thoughts I had were make a new backstrap BUT getting it dialed in for the detent may be challenging. Would you fix or retire it? __________________ Mike ![]() ![]() |

What about putting in a larger stop pin and then regrind for opening and closing?

Mike, I'd look at it as a challenge. You have the skills so why not try. You can make a new lock plate and dial it in. You won't have lost anything because you will still have the old plate. As far as the detent, you have the old lock to get you location from. Put the plate on your copyer with a steel ruler for scale and copy it. Print the pattern out and glue it to your new stock. Should be pretty straight forward I think.
Go for it Erik |
