Tony Bose Bullet Trapper

This was a fun project, and challenging too. It was fun because the knife's owner and I discovered we both love the old traditional folding knives. In this case the subject is an extraordinarily clean and tight modern custom version of the old Remington "Bullet" knife in two-blade trapper form by one of the best of the best, Tony Bose. Part of the fun was trying to give the knife a period context within it's most popular time, from 1920 to about 1950.

The challenging part was, and this is always an issue, how to photographically feature a relatively plain unadorned knife, giving it the same visual presence and power as all the great 'art knives' we see these days.

Here are the two images we came up with, each very different from the other but hopefully effective in their own way.

Regarding the artifacts in the images they are a Parker celluloid fountain pen belonging to my grandfather, an Elgin engineer's pocket watch belonging to my great uncle, and two liberty coins from that period.
