A hunter with NICE curly koa
Here's a drop point hunter that I will be taking to the show in Missoula Friday. This is my first experience with koa and I'm liking it a lot. This piece has a TON of figure, curl and chatoyance that, as many others have noted, you can't catch in a picture.
Specs: Hand-forged from 1084 8 3/4" overall, 4" blade .190" thick at the ricasso Heavily rounded spine and ricasso edge for comfort German silver guard and spacer Coined spacer collar Curly Koa handle Held together with a hidden bolt on the butt end. I didn't want to put a pin in the koa. __________________ John Doyle You have nothing to fear but fear itself...........and bears. |

Very handsome!
Do you coin your spacers yourself, or buy them that way? |

That is gorgeous, John! I'll be heading top Missoula this weekend, too. Looking forward to checking out your table and saying hello.

Crisp and clean John, really nice. You made great use of the grain flow, not just the curl.
Go get 'em in Missoula, Craig |

I really like your butt, John. I mean the knife's butt... I mean the part that you filed out on the butt...of the knife handle...
. I'm actually really hoping you somehow end up still having these most recent knives this fall so I can see them, but pretty sure that won't happen. Great job, they look really nice. Jeremy |

Beautiful knife.
I'm tempted to come over to Missoula just to see it (and that bowie) in person. |

Nice and clean John. You'll have to teach me the trick to round filing the end. I have a
heck of a time trying to do that on the front of a set of scales. |

Guy's I have to tell you that this knife is even better in hand. I went over to John's house Friday morning to visit before the show. This one and his Bowie were just so fine. I held on to both of them for almost the better part of a hour. What a treat to be next to John and these great knives of his at the show. Both have new homes now which is no surprise. Keep up the great work John. It is such a pleasure to watch you go man.
