How do I lock the temper color into my blade?
How can I lock the tempering color into the blade? Can this be done by quenching in oil after taking out of the temper oven? Thanks for any help.

Temper colors are oxides that form on the surface of a blade. It is VERY thin, and very fragile. It will literally rub off with a little use/time. In order to make it more durable, it would need to be covered with a clear coating of some type. The best recommendation I can offer would be Gun-Kote clear. I use it on various blades, and it works well.
